PVDF hot-melt elbows are common pipe fittings widely used in chemical, electronics, and water treatment industries.
Performance Advantages
Temperature resistance: -40℃～150℃; Pressure resistance: PN16 (20℃); Aging life :≥25 years.
- Almost insoluble in strong acids, strong alkalis, and halogen solvents at room temperature; Metal ion precipitation <1 ppb, meeting the requirements for electronic-grade ultrapure water and chemicals.
- No rubber gasket at the weld surface, completely avoiding elastomer aging and particle shedding.
Types of Hot-Melt Connection Methods
PVDF hot-melt elbows typically correspond to two main hot-melt welding processes:
Hot-melt socket welding:
- Process: Using a special tool with a heating plate, both the outer surface of the pipe and the inner surface (socket) of the fitting are heated simultaneously. After the material melts, the pipe is quickly inserted into the socket of the fitting, and pressure is maintained until cooling.
- Features: This is the most commonly used method for small-diameter pipes (typically DN ≤ 63mm). This will form two weld beads, one inside and one outside. The weld bead on the inner wall will slightly reduce the flow area, which needs to be considered in ultra-high purity applications.
Hot-melt butt welding:
- Process: Using a dedicated butt welding machine, the ends of the pipe and fitting are simultaneously heated to a molten state on a heating plate. The heating plate is then quickly removed, and the two molten ends are joined together under controlled pressure. After cooling, they form a single unit.
- Features: Primarily used for large-diameter pipes (typically DN ≥ 75mm). Its advantage lies in forming a smooth inner wall that is essentially the same as the pipe's inner diameter, with virtually no dead zones, making it ideal for ultra-pure systems. However, the equipment is more expensive, and the operating skills required are higher.
